• The American Museum of Natural History of New York

    Hello everyone,

Today I'm going to talk to you about the American Museum of Natural History of New York.

I watched a movie two months ago called Night at the Museum (2006). It gave me the idea to talk about the American Museum of Natural History of New York.

It was designed by the architect Calvert Vaux in 1869 and opened his doors in 1877. It welcomes 5 millions of visitors every year. It's situated   in Manhattan in Central Park West. There are 5 floors where are exposed 32 millions of animals specimens. It is the biggest museum of natural history in the world.

In the year 2000 they created Rose Center for Earth and Space. On the first floor, there are many things like the oceans hall, the biodiversity room, the meteorite and stones room but also many things about the Indians from the East North coast and the evolution about the human being biology.

When you go to the second floor you can discover a work of art collection illustrating the Chinese culture and other countries of Asia. There are everyday objects from different African tribus and a lot of different birds from America and other countries. It is the most complete collection in the world. From mid-October until mid-May there are more than 500 butterfly species.

The third floor is about the mammals like elephants, lions, gorillas, rhinoceros, ostrichs... They are exposed by continent in full-size in their natural environment.

The last floor is the most famous floor. There is the biggest dinosaur collection in the world.
